Our Christmas Letter:
As told by Benjamin and Jack Meower
B: Jack! Jack! Jack! Jack! Hey Buddy!
J: Kid, I’m sleeping. Go away.
B: But……Jack! Jack! Jack! Did you know that we come from a family that really appreciates cheesy Christmas letters that are told from the perspective of the family members that can’t talk?! Jack! THAT’S US! It’s time for our moment to shine – WE are the stars of the Christmas letter this year!
J: That is a ridiculous practice. No.
B: Oh, Jackie. Remember that one time this year when you almost let me touch you?
J: Worst day of my life.
B: I loved it, Jack. Someday we will be great friends. But for now, I’ll enjoy the chase. Are you ready for our amazing recap of the year yet?
J: Fine. Just don’t touch me.
B: Can you believe that just a year ago, our family looked like this?? I was so tiny! Mom and Dad spent most of the year cheering me on to my next milestone. I liked to draw out the suspense and make them wait at least 3 weeks after the first sign of doing sometime major to actually do it. You know…gotta keep them on their toes. I rolled over at 6 months, started crawling at 9 months, and started walking a couple weeks after my first birthday. Remember that, Jack? Remember when I became mobile!?
J: Yes…..yes. I remember that quite well. Pardon me as I jump to the middle of the bookshelf. Okay, carry on.
B: You know what was one of my favorite things of the whole year, Jack? Mom and Dad took me to Florida to see my cousins and Aunt Holly. We even met Mickey Mouse! During this trip, Daddy gave me several lessons on what he called “humoring my mother”. It turns out my mom likes princesses, stage shows, and anything with dramatic key changes. I better get used to it. Anyway, it was a great time, and I can’t wait to go back in February. This time I’ll actually be able to PLAY with Livs and Robyn!
B: Mom and Dad have also let me go on vacations to Grandma and Grandpa’s house AND to Nina and Papa’s house! I’m one lucky kid, because they are the best! They bring out special toys and play so much peek-a-boo!
J: Why are they encouraging you to go faster!?
B: Anyway, I don’t know what Mom and Dad did while I was having so much fun. I heard words like “Dubuque” and “Yellow River”. Weird. They must have been miserable without me…
J: What do you guys do all day while I enjoy the place to myself?
B: Well, Dad likes his job with the computers and the Internet. Mom goes to hang out with a bunch of other kids. I think those kids can do things like talk and count and read – but she helps them do it better. And me? I get to go hang out with my friends at Kristine’s house! It’s great! And guess what, Jack? There are other cats there! And they let me touch them!!
J: Oh. Well, now I’m getting kind of jealous.
B: Awe, Jack. Don’t worry. You’ll always be my first pet and best friend. Wait….does that mean we can cuddle!?!
J: No.
Happy Holidays from Jesse, Heidi, Ben, and Jackie Meower!!!
