The Trouble with Blogging is….

The trouble with blogging is…….I think my blogs without actually writing them. And then by the time I sit down to write, I think too much time has past for them to be relevant. And then I figure people forget to look at this site anyway since I am inconsistent in posting things. And then a month has gone by and I squeeze in a Ben month-by-month entry. So I’m going to start putting “At least do a little entry” on my Google calendar every Thursday, and we’ll see how that goes. But for now, I’m going to start in the present and work backwards as time allows. A wise scrapbooker once told meĀ that strategy is an excellent way to “catch up”. So ready? Go!

I am loving summer, parks, and finding free community things to do. We have already caught two parks this week – and it’s only Wednesday!

On Monday, we joined someĀ friends to visit Ashby Park – a favorite based on location and activities. Surprisingly, Ben has picked land over sea lately and prefers the sand and slides over the splash pools and fountains. Even though I love the foot spa that is a good wading pool, I can’t help smiling and am happy to oblige when Ben walks over to a swing and just stands there with his hand in the air until I heave him up into the contraption.

He would be more than happy to swing all morning. This is a huge shift from just a few months ago when he couldn’t stand to be in them for more than 5 minutes.

Yesterday, we checked out Legion Park – another favorite based on location and awesome equipment for Ben’s age. We ran into some other friends there, so that was an extra bonus! The summer heat finally arrived, and two hours at this park had our little guy beat!

This was a great start to the week after a fabulous anniversary weekend. Jesse and I dropped off Benny at Grandma and Grandpa’s house for the whole weekend. We decided that we should actually use the tent that was gifted to us two years ago that was stored in the basement! So we headed up to Ledges State Park for some hiking and relaxation. The weather was perfect and the scenery was gorgeous.

I was definitely okay with this for a couple of hours:

After returning to the city, we cleaned up and went to dinner and a movie. Transformers: Age of Extinction was exactly what I thought it would be. Even though they could have easily cut out an hour, it was satisfied everything that a mindless explosion movie should be, in all of it’s sexist glory. It was so hilariously bad that it was awesome. And that’s what I expect from the series. Plus, Marky Mark. So, yeah…that should explain everything.
